Barichara

  • Best time to travel

    November to February: This is the coldest span in Barichara when the temperature raises up to 8 degrees Celsius and night temperature goes down up to 5 degrees Celsius. This is the reason why this is considered to be the peak season to visit Barichara. March to October: These are relatively hotter months in Barichara when the day temperature raises up to 25 degrees Celsius and night temperature goes down up to 15 degrees Celsius. The weather remains clear and travelers can easily enjoy the sun kissed streets of Barichara.

  • Day 1

    ARRIVAL IN BOGOTÁ

    Today you arrive in one of the highest capital cities of the world, located amidst Andean Mountains, Bogota is situated 8,660ft above sea level. After you land, you will be transported to your hotel with your guide for check in. You will take the rest of the day to settle in and adjust to the unusual conditions.

      This seven bedroom, family owned boutique hotel is a little oasis in a quaint neighborhood of the city, where you can soak up the sun in the courtyard garden or cosy up with a book (and a glass of regional red) by the fireplace.

  • Day 2

    EXPLORE BOGOTÁ AND ITS ART SCENE

    Today, you will start with a great city tour to orient yourself to the history, culture & geography of Colombia’s capital city. You’ll hop on the cable car to the great viewpoint of Monserrate Mountain, to appreciate the whole city from 10,000ft above sea level. Then, you will walk along the colorful cobblestone streets of La Candelaria colonial town and "La Quinta de Bolivar". 

    You will also appreciate the  urban works designed by Rogelio Salmona, and get later to contemplate the fantastic Botero Museum which houses one of Latin America’s largest art collections.

  • Day 3

    ARRIVE IN BARICHARA

    Board a short domestic flight to lush-green Bucaramanga. Upon arrival, you will hop on a helicopter for a stunning 20 minutes ride to San Gil, where your private car will wait for you to drive you to Barichara. 

    You have the rest of the day to relax and explore your accommodations.

  • Day 4

    DISCOVER BARICHARA BY FOOT

    In the morning, you will get the opportunity of walking the “Camino Real” or Royal Path, a hike from Barichara to lost village of Guane, built in the XIX Century.

    In the afternoon, explore Barichara town, the most gorgeous and best preserved village in Colombia. Learn about its people, culture and traditions as you admire the stunning Colonial architecture.

  • Day 5

    COFFEE FARM & LOCAL FARMERS

    Today, you will head to a local coffee farm to immerse yourself in the entire coffee making process, from the seed to your own cup. You will learn about different coffee seeds, ancient farming traditions & various methods of preparation, as you get to taste them all!

  • Day 6

    HIKING & RAFTING + PRIVATE COOKING CLASS & DINNER

    Today, you will start your adventure with a hike. Later, get ready for rafting on the Chicamocha rivers across the impressive canyon. Navigate surrounded by the live sounds and colors of incredible native Colombian flora and fauna. 

    In the afternoon, get to know all the secrets and ingredients of exquisite Colombian cuisine by the hand of a local specialised chef who will teach you how to make your own traditional Colombian dinner.

  • Day 7

    HORSEBACK RIDING & AGRESTIC PICNIC

    Today's adventure will allow you to be one with the countryside. Breathe in pure fresh air and enjoy the raw and wild natural landscapes of the region. Stop at a secret location to delight yourselves with a gorgeously simple picnic.

  • Day 8

    ADIOS, COLOMBIA!

    The adventure is not over! On your last morning, you will start making your way back to Bucaramanga. You will hop on one of the longest cable cars of the world with mesmerising views of the Chicamocha Canyon. Then, you will drive to peaceful Colonial Hacienda El Roble to enjoy lunch. 

    After lunch, head to the airport for your flight home.
