  • Day 5

    Discover “Valpo”

The Chilean poet Pablo Neruda said of this coastal town: “Valparaíso, how absurd you are…you haven't combed your hair, you've never had time to get dressed, life has always surprised you.” As Neruda’s words hint at, Valparaíso – or “Valpo” as the locals call it – is neither orderly nor neat, but its wonderfully haphazard array of colorful slope-side quarters, street art-adorned thoroughfares and freewheeling attitude, is undeniably charming.

    Selected hotels

    • Casa Higueras

This renovated 1920s’ mansion is set in the heart of the picturesque neighborhood of Cerro Alegre, and offers magnificent views of Valparaíso’s bayou. It offers guests an appealing mix of modern amenities and period charm.

  • Day 6

Cook With Locals and View Valpo’s Graffiti

A local chef will introduce you to the highlights of Chilean cuisine, showcasing the country’s signature flavor combinations and most representative dishes. After, you’ll eat what you’ve cooked and sip some local wine. Later, hit the steep maze-like streets and staircases to see the open-air works of the town’s most famous street artists.

  • Day 7

    Train Your Taste Buds

Introduce your taste buds to some new and lesser-known wine styles as you sample crisp chardonnays and oh-so-delicious pinots at a small-scale winery in the Casablanca Valley, an on-the-up wine region just outside Valparaíso.

    Selected hotels

    • Casona Matetic

Occupying an early 20th-century plantation property amid the vine-growing hills of Casablanca Valley, this boutique guesthouse is just a stone’s throw from some of the finest wine producers in the region.

  • Day 8

    Cycling through vineyards

Pedal along the backroads and between the rolling hills of Casablanca, hopping off the saddle for tastings and tours in various wineries. The cool coastal breeze of the region makes cycling here particularly pleasant, and also helps in the production of the Casablanca Valley’s cool climate reds and crisp whites.
